Dear University Friends,
Our campus community’s commitment to service is one of our proudest traditions. It’s why Washington Monthly has ranked UC San Diego the number one public university in the nation for serving the public interest for the seventh year in a row.
UC San Diego volunteers—whether students, staff, faculty, alumni or campus friends—are making a difference locally and around the world. From welcoming incoming undergraduates on campus, to serving overseas with organizations like the Peace Corps, our volunteers have a widespread impact on society.
As we begin a new academic year, I encourage you to make service a priority and join the UC San Diego Volunteer50 challenge to give 50 hours or more to community service. Volunteer50 recruits volunteers for some of our biggest events, including Founders Celebration, the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and Triton Day. The program also encourages volunteering off campus, with any organization or cause that inspires you.
I am proud of the collective impact of our UC San Diego volunteers. Thank you for all you do to help our university and community.
With kind regards,
Pradeep K. Khosla
